Welcome to the first “Admin Gems” blog for PA Excellence. I am very excited about sharing my knowledge and experiences with you and hope you find my blogs to be enjoyable and informative.
In this blog I will introduce PA Excellence and give you an overview of what we do and how we can save entrepreneurs, sole traders and businesses time and money.
Let’s start with “what does PA Excellence do?” PA Excellence allows entrepreneurs, sole traders and businesses to outsource their secretarial, event management and personal assistant needs by providing them with a virtual assistant service, saving them time and money. So, what is a virtual assistant? A virtual assistant (typically abbreviated to VA) is generally a self-employed office professional who provides administrative/ secretarial assistance to clients remotely from a home office. PA Excellence provides services such as word processing, transcription, event organisation, travel arrangements, proof reading, database management, report writing and much, much more.
A little about me. I am the owner and principal of PA Excellence and have worked as a personal assistant, legal secretary, office manager and executive assistant for over 20 years. I started this business to achieve that elusive work/life balance so that I can spend time with my two young children. I’m sure most of you can relate to that!
I am passionate about my business and believe a VA can be a valuable asset in any business. Recently the Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner released an article on their website about how valuable VA’s are to any business. The article stated:

So, what sort of things can a VA do to help you save time and money? Think of all the time you spend on admin tasks that you don’t really enjoy doing (setting up meetings, follow up confirmations, proof reading, client database management, research or making travel arrangements, just to name a few). You could delegate any or all of these tasks to a VA who can manage these tasks for you, leaving you time to work on what you do best! There are other times that you might just like some additional support for the duration of a project. A VA can support your current assistant or be your support whenever you need it. There are no ongoing fees and you have the flexibility of using a VA only when you need them.
A VA will only charge you for the productive hours they work on your business, you are not paying for the extra costs associated with a permanent employee so it makes sense that you will save money.
With today’s technology, it is easy to interact with other businesses via the cloud, email and file sharing programs. With this in mind, it is easier than ever to share your documents securely and work collaboratively with a VA. Some of my favourite programs are Dropbox, Skype, Teamwork, GoToMeeting and Chrome Remote Desktop which are all valuable tools for working remotely and most of these, and other similar programs, are not expensive and some are free.
